App Embed Installation
Not Recommended
App Embeds only work with approximately 80% of Shopify themes. We strongly recommend using Theme Blocks instead for guaranteed compatibility.
App Embeds provide automatic placement but with less control and reliability than Theme Blocks.
When to Use App Embed
Consider App Embed only if:
- You want the fastest possible setup
- You're just testing the app temporarily
- Your theme doesn't support Theme App Extensions (rare)
How App Embed Works
App Embeds use JavaScript to automatically detect your product page structure and inject the FAQ panel in what the app believes is the optimal location. This works well with most themes but can fail or misplace content with:
- Heavily customized themes
- Themes with non-standard HTML structure
- Single-page application (SPA) themes
- Some older or boutique themes
Installation Steps
Step 1: Open Theme Editor
- Go to Online Store → Themes in your Shopify admin
- Click Customize on your active theme
Step 2: Open App Embeds
- Click the App embeds icon in the left sidebar (puzzle piece icon)
- Find Convertiko FAQ in the list
- Toggle the switch to enable it
Step 3: Save and Test
- Click Save
- Visit a product page that has generated FAQ content
- Check if the FAQ appears in a reasonable location
Troubleshooting App Embed
FAQ Not Appearing
If the FAQ doesn't appear at all:
- Check console for errors: Open browser DevTools (F12) → Console tab
- Verify product has content: The embed only shows if FAQ content exists
- Check embed is enabled: Return to theme editor → App embeds
FAQ in Wrong Position
This is the most common issue with App Embeds. The embed tries to find the product description or add-to-cart button, but themes vary widely in their HTML structure.
Solutions:
- Switch to Theme Block installation (recommended)
- Use Manual installation for precise control
FAQ Appears Multiple Times
Some themes have duplicate product sections. The embed may detect multiple insertion points.
Solution: Switch to Theme Block installation for precise control.
Switching to Theme Block
If you're experiencing issues with App Embed:
- Go to Theme editor → App embeds
- Toggle Convertiko FAQ to off
- Follow the Theme Block installation guide
Your FAQ content and settings will remain intact—you're just changing the display method.
Technical Details
The App Embed works by:
- Detecting product pages via URL pattern (
/products/*) - Finding the product information section via common selectors
- Injecting the FAQ container after the detected element
- Loading FAQ content for the current product
